Fresh Poultry and Seafood have been traditionally using a lot more Ice for temperature control during transportation. However with the high cost of edible ice and the tremendous wastage of water on a daily basis, they have moved to refrigerated transportation. Refrigeration not only reduces that cost and hassles of operation, but also leads to a better final product.
With the increase in Frozen poultry, meat and seafood products, frozen cold chain has also become imperative. The challenge is similar to other products – first at the time of transport from the Factory to Carrying and Forwarding Agents and second at the time of distribution to retailers / outlets.
